POLICY STATEMENT NO. 13:
REGISTRATION FEES REFINING S.I.T. MEMBERS – FIRST TIME ATTENDEES
It is the policy to reduce the registration fees to fifty percent (50.00%) of the regular registration fees to Refining S.I.T. members who attend for the first time the Annual Conferences. The reduced fees must be applied to one associate per refining corporate member per year. The corporate member through its S.I.T. contact person must communicate the Executive Director the name of the awardee.

POLICY STATEMENT NO. 14:
REGISTRATION FEES S.I.T. MEMBERS – FIRST AUTHOR
It is the policy to reduce the registration fees to fifty percent (50.00%) of the regular full registration fees to the first author presenting a paper at the Annual Conferences. If the paper has multiple authors, the fee reduction only applies to one (1) of the authors. The first author must be a refining member. The Program Chairman must notify the Executive Director the names of the awardees as soon as the program is confirmed.
Only one registration discount applies per conference and discounts cannot be combined.
The fall executive committee meeting shall set a budget for this item.

POLICY STATEMENT NO. 15:
REGISTRATION FEES – SIMPOSIUM PANELISTS
It is the policy to reduce the registration fees to fifty percent (50.00%) of the regular full registration fees to symposium panelists at the Annual Conferences. The Symposium Chairman to notify the Executive Director the names of the panelists as soon as the list of panelists is confirmed. This is limited to one (1) person per associate and affiliate member per symposia (i.e. if 2 different people from company X serve on 2 different symposia then both receive the fee reduction but if 2 people from the same company serve only on 1 symposia, then only 1 person receives the reduction). The awardee must be an S.I.T. member.
Only one registration discount applies per conference and discounts cannot be combined.

POLICY STATEMENT NO. 16 :
REGISTRATION FEES GRADUATE STUDENTS
It is the policy to wave the membership dues and registration fees to the Annual Conferences to graduate students presenting a paper and or poster at the conference. In addition to the above, S.I.T. may provide $1,000.00 scholarship as monetary help towards travel costs for a paper and $1,000.00 for a poster. The subject of the paper/poster must be related to sugar manufacturing and be evaluated by the Program Chairman prior to awarding the scholarship. The Major Professor or the Director/Dean of the school where the research is being done shall nominate the graduate student to the Program chair and the Program chair shall decide on any potential scholarship award with these guidelines. If an award is granted, the Program Chair and Major Professor or the Director/Dean shall coordinated/communicate the granted award before the conference.
Any and all potential applicable taxes and fees to be paid by the award receiver out of the award amount.
For this to be awarded, the graduate student has to be present for the poster and do the presentation of a paper. A check for the value of the scholarship to be presented to the awardee at the Awards Banquet immediately following the Technical Conference.
It is at the joint discretion of the executive director in coordination with the chairpersons for the presentations and posters to limit the number of such awards as SIT deems reasonable on an annual basis.
The fall executive committee meeting shall set a budget for this item. In total it shall not exceed $3,000.00.
